This car was a restoration project that had never been finished. The floor and longitudinals were new and properly installed, but the rockers and front clips were missing, and the door bottoms needed to be replaced. In spite of that the price was right and it was a good start for an "Outlaw" Roadster. The interior was finished in Seagull Grey leather with grey German square-weave carpet. The leather was skived (a process of shaving it thinner) so that it can be used for binding the carpet. A dual circuit brake system was installed. This uses a stock 356C resevoir modified to feed both circuits. The stock fuel tank featured a catch tray as used on the larger GT tanks. We also installed our 356B/C shifter/coupler modification which features a shorter lever, with a 40% reduction in shift travel and a precise shifter feel. The main goal for this Roadster GT was an engine that would be streetable, but usable for occasional autocrossing or street racing. The emphasis was on a solid mid range torque curve rather than maximum horsepower. The engine installed was the W/R 1925cc twin-plug. For igntion an MSD billet distributor with adjustable max. advance and advance curve combined with an MSD control unit with soft touch rev. limiter. The MSD control was mounted under the passenger's footwell.
